Ando is an artist of light. He captures it in space and gives it a stage to dance upon. 1/3 of the Azuma house is dedicated to give light space in the small city home. 1/3 of the house reminds us that we are apart of the world and we are apart of nature. Which means, if its raining and your in the bed room and you have to pee your gonna need an umbrella.
The Azuma house By Tadao Ando.
This building is my first understanding of modern architecture. Before this house there was something that I did not understand; so I hated modern architecture. Now I understand it; I still don’t always love it. As I said above this man is an artist of light; he even made a church to it. The one thing that I really love about this Japanese man is that he was a professional boxer who one-day decided to be an architect so he went to the library. Gotta love that- a self taught architect; my great-great-great-great-grandpa was one of those. Glad to see they are still around.
